This cushion has an applique map of Stronsay in a lovely blue fabric featuring gulls, puffins and fish.  The whole map and neighbouring islands/holms associated with Stronsay are stitched around by hand in a neat blanket stitch with a matching blue thread.  The whole design is then stitched around again by machine to quilt the cushion front and make the map ‘pop’.  The applique is on an oatmeal coloured Osnaberg fabric and framed with two cotton prints, a black and white musical note print and a blue and white shell print which is also used for the back.  These fabrics reflect the coastal birdlife and musical heritage of Stronsay perfectly.  The cushion has a zip closure in the back and is complete with a  15″ feather pad.
